Timothy David Minchin is an Australian musician, comedian, writer, actor and director. He was born on 7th October, 1975 in England to Australian parents but he was raised in Perth located in Western Australia. Tim is popularly known for his live musical comedy shows internationally. He has released six CDs, five DVDs and has done shows across the globe. His father David Ellison Minchin and grandfather were surgeons in Perth.
He started his school education from private Christ Church Grammer School and learning piano at an early age. Tim graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and theatre from University of Western Australia and Diploma of Music in 1988 in Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He had appeared in several films as an actor including Two Fists, One Heart, The Lost Thing, Storm, 88 Keys, No Activity etc.
In 2016, Tim won Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor and Helpmann Award for Best Original Score. In 2017, Tim won Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Tim currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Sarah. They both have a daughter and a son.
