Simon Baker is an actor, director and TV artist from Australia. He is known for his roles in TV series, The Mentalist and The Guardian and one of his famous movie, The Ring Two.
Simon Baker was born (30 July, 1969) in Launceston, Tasmania. He grew up in NSW and was raised Catholic but now claims to be agnostic. Actress Naomi Watts is Godmother of daughter and Nicole Kidman, the Godmother of his youngest son.
Simon Baker started his career in 1987. Baker appeared in E Street in 1992-93 as Constable Sam Farrell and in GP for one episode. His longer roles came in 1993 with Home and Away as he played James Hudson. Baker’s breakthrough came in 2001 when he was cast as Nick Fallin in The Guardian. He acted in this series for 67 episodes from 2001-04. Then acted in The Mentalist from 2008-15 as Patrick Jane for 151 episodes. Other television series include Heartbreak High (1995-96), Smith (2006-07) and Naked: Stories of Men (1996).
Other than TV series, Baker played many roles in films. For starters, he did L.A Confidential as Matt Reynolds, Most Wanted in the year 1997. In 1999, he signed a Televison film Secret Men’s Business. His big movie came in 2005, the horror film The Ring Two in which he played Max Rourke. Other notable roles are Riley Denbo in Land of the Dead (2005), Christian Thomson in The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Malcolm Slaight in The Lodger (2009) and Guy Harrap in I Give it a Year (2013).
Baker appeared in many commercials for Samsung Electronics Australia’s campaigns in 2010, French perfume house Givench, ANZ bank of Australia and New Zealand for 18 months in 2012 and ‘13 and since 2012, he’s been Longines ambassador of Elegance.
Baker married actress Rebecca Rigg in 1998 and has 3 children with her.
