Shaun Marsh is an Australian left-handed opening batsman and an occasional spinner. He plays for Australia in all the International formats. He belongs to a family of cricketers.
Shaun Edward Marsh was born on 9th July, 1983 in Narrogin, Western Australia. His father Geoff Marsh also played for Australia and his Mitchell Marsh plays as all-rounder for Australia in all formats. He is married to Journalist Rebecca O’Donovan. His nickname is SOS (Son of Swampy).
Shaun Marsh and Mitch Marsh attended Wesley College where they started playing cricket and he set a record of playing with an average of 210 in Darlot Cricket Competition.
He played U-19 ICC Cricket World Cups in 1999-2000 and 2001-02 and scored well along with Cameron White, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and Nathan Hauritz. Australia won the 2001-02 U-19 World Cup. He then got selected for Western Australia’s team in 2000-01 to play as middle order batsman. Till 2006, he played for Western Warriors, got selected in Australia-A team, played well against England’s pace attack and made good partnerships with Luke Pomersbach.
After the retirement of Justin Langer, he was switched to opening position. In 2012-13 Big Bash League, he was the highest run scorer for Perth Scorchers helping them reach the finals.
Shaun Marsh made his ODI debut against West Indies in 2008, test debut in 2011 vs Sri Lanka T20 debut vs West Indies in 2008. He plays in IPL for Kings XI Punjab as opening batsman. In inaugural season of IPL, Marsh had to miss first 4 games but became the highest run scorer of the tournament helping Punjab reach the Semi-finals that year. Besides this, he plays for Western Warriors and Perth Scorchers.
During Champions league T20 in South Africa, he was dropped along with his brother Mitchell because of excessive drinking and indiscipline.
