Normanby Hotel is one of the oldest hotels of Australia. It was designed by John B Nicholson in 1870s – 1890s and was built by Thomas Game in 1870. It was extended to a design by architect George Henry Male Addison in 1917. Its architectural style is eclectic. Normanby Hotel has been listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on October 21, 1992.
It is a double storeyed building and consists of a central rectangular block. The block has dual wings at the rear and projecting bays at the front. The grand bars of the old Victorian dame were renovated one hundred and ten years later using modern designs to make it look even more magnificent.
The place is beautiful and the food is awesome. Since the Normanby is one of the most famous hotel and pub, it is popularly known as “the place to be”. It has five bars and many function areas for every type of event or celebration.
