My name is Meli Panagiotidis and I am a teacher at Kurunjang Secondary College, Melton.

This year, eight of our Year 9 students have been successful in securing a place to present at the ‘2017 Melbourne Water Kids Teaching Kids Conference’. A two day event (24 and 25 October), where inspiring future environmental leaders, from schools across Victoria, take centre stage to discuss environmental issues and pledge their commitment to make a difference.

A critical, pressing environmental issue our students have elected to discuss and/or raise awareness of, at said conference, is the ‘Crisis/state of the world’s water supply – The fact that 663 million people in the world don’t have access to clean drinking water and what we can do to help’. For this reason, we seek your support and ask whether you are able to assist our students to make a difference by taking part in our College fete on Friday, 6 October, and judging ‘The Great Kurunjang Bake Off’; a fundraising activity planned for the Melton community at large.

Please be advised that all money raised on the day will help fund the cost of building a well in a rural village in Africa; where people don’t have access to clean drinking water, and where children die prematurely from infectious diseases transmitted through unclean/contaminated water.

The fundraising program our students have committed to is ‘Water for Life Initiative – Global Aid Network (GAiN) Australia’ (Web-site: globalaid.net.au)

All participants/contributions made will be duly acknowledge at the abovementioned conference, local newspapers and radio station, college webpage and newsletters.
