Ruby Rose was born on 20th March, 1986 in Melbourne to Katia Langenheim, a single mother, is an Australian model, actress, DJ, recording artist, television presenter and former MTV VJ. She has co-hosted Australia’s Next Top Model and The Project on Network Ten.
Rose, before settling in Melbourne, travelled across Victoria, Tasmania and Surfers Paradise as young child. She attended University High School and Footscray City College. She started her career in 2002 by joining Girlfriend model search. She pursued her career as VJ for MTV in Australia. Rose also collaborated with fashion label Milk and Honey to design capsule fashion line. This line includes washed jeans, leather jackets and t-shirts with unique designs. In 2014, she collaborated with Phoebe Dahl for designing ethical street wear. She featured within Vogue Australia, InStyle Magazine, Marie Claire Magazine, Cleo, Cosmopolitan, Nylon and New York’s Inked Magazine. She has also been the face of Maybelline New York’s face in Australia. Ruby co-hosted, appeared and presented on many talk shows, TV and new hosting projects.
She started her acting career in 2008 by making a debut in Australian film Suite for Fleur. Then in 2013, she got a small role in drama Around the Block, then in season 3 and 4 of Orange is the New Black. Other than this, she appeared in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2 and will be appearing in Meg.
Besides acting, modeling and host work she has done music work and charity for teenagers and young kids. Rose discovered that she was a lesbian when she was 12 and wanted a sex change operation. She was taunted and teased for her sexual orientation but her modelling career stopped her from doing so. She supports animal rights and has been a member of PETA.
