Radha Mitchell is an Australian actress who appears in TV series and films. Her full name is Radha Rani Amber Indigo Ananda Mitchell which has Indian origins.
Radha was born in Melbourne to model turned fashion designer mother and filmmaker father who divorced when she was young. She calls her name a creative byproduct as her mother experienced some spiritual events in India during 1970s. She was born on November 12, 1973. She went to St. Michael’s Grammar School and St. Kilda and graduated in 1992.
Her career began with her appearance in ABC’s Sugar and Spice in 1988. A guest appearance on Neighbours in 1994 and then she was a permanent actor in 1996 and 1997 on Neighbours, played Catherine O’Brien. Her first film came in 1997, High Art and second Everything Put Together in the same year. These films were independent Spirit Award Winners. Other notable films were Pitch Black with Vin Diesel, Phone Booth with Colin Farrell, and Man on Fire with Denzel Washington.
Her breakthrough came when she did Finding Neverland opposite to Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet which earned her nomination for Outstanding Cast at Screen Actors Guild Awards. She then played a lead role in Melinda and Melinda (2004), horror film Silent Hills, Mozart and the Whale. In 2008, she starred in Rogue, Henry Poole is Here and The Children of Huang Shi. She was awarded at Antipodes Film Festival with Best Actress for her role in The Waiting City. Radha played lead role in ABC’s Red Widow and opposite Gerard Butler in Olympus Has Fallen in 2013.
