Karen Andrews, born on 23 August, 1960, is an Australian Politician from Liberal National Party for McPherson seat since 2010 federal elections. She formerly served as Assistant Minister of Science and Parliamentary Secretary.
She was born in Brisbane, Queensland. She was raised in Townsville. She got her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree in 1983 from University of Queensland and later on she specialized in design and plant maintenance by visiting many petroleum and chemical sites and various power stations in and out of Queensland. She started her career after getting Diploma in Industrial Relations from University of Victoria, as Industrial Relations Advocate which helped her for getting her the post of Head of Industrial Relations Branch of Department of Health and Community services where she was successful negotiating with public sector employees such as nurses, ambulance officers and doctors.
She runs her own Human Resources and Industrial Relations Consultancy firm and understands the pressure of running businesses whether small or big. She is a member of House of Representative’s Standing Committee on Education and Employment. In 2014, she was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry and Science. In 2016, she was appointed as Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills. She co-founded the Parliamentary Friends of Science.
She strongly supports the non-profit organizations for their contributions towards society and nation. She also helps and works for veterans which was started by her father.
