Hon Tony Abbott, born on 4th November, 1957 in London, United Kingdom is an Australian Politician and a former Prime Minister of Australia. Tony Abbott is a Member of Parliament since 1994 from Warringah and led Liberal Party of Australia from 2009-2015.

John Anthony Abbott was born to an Australian Mother, Fay Abbott and British Father, Richard Henry Dick Abbott who later on became a man to establish the largest orthodontics practice in Australia, retiring in 2002. Abbott completed his primary school from St. Aloysius’ College, Milson’s Point and secondary education from St. Ignatius’ College, Riverview. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Law from University of Sydney. He was the President of Student Representative Council. He graduated from The Queen’s College, Oxford as Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in 1983. He went in as Rhodes Scholar. Tony Abbott then did his Masters of Arts in 1989.

Abbott was a heavyweight boxer of moderate height. He was dominating and aggressive leader. During his college days, he gained attention of Politicians. Influenced by Jesuits, he encountered B. Santamaria who was also an activist against Communism and a Catholic layman. At 22, he was assumed to be his girlfriend’s kid’s father but in 2004, it was revealed in a DNA report that he wasn’t. He attended St. Patrick’s seminary in 1984, at 26 after coming back from England. He left the seminary in 1987 and married Margaret Margie Aitken in Sydney in 1988 and they have 3 daughters.

His pre-political career started as a journalist. He started writing during his seminary days for newspapers and magazines like Honi Soit, The Bulletin, The Catholic Weekly and The Australian. He entered into Politics as Senior Adviser to John Hewson and Director of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy.

He was the leader of Coalition in 2010 and established government with the support of 4 outside MPs. He was elected as leader of the opposition party.

He was Parliament Secretary to the Minister for Employment, Education, Trainee and Youth Affairs from 1996-98, Minister for Employment from 1998-2001, Minister for Employment, Workplace Relations from 2001-03 and Minister for Health and Ageing from 2003-07.

Abbott established Royal Commission against Union Lawlessness to boost Construction Industry. He improved medicinal sectors by providing opportunities for dentists, psychologists and health professionals and also developed job placement services in private sectors for long-term unemployed people.

In 2013, Abbott led the Liberal Coalition Party and sworn as 28th Prime Minister of Australia. This party’s first budget in 2014 was criticized at a huge scale. He stood against same-sex marriage. He lost his post in 2015 after Malcolm Turnbull resigned challenging Abbott’s leadership qualities for economic growth. Abbott made Australia the second largest Military Contributor in campaign against ISIL led by US in 2014 G20 Summit. A few free-trades with China, Korea and Japan were finalized.

Abbott is a Roman Catholic by religion. He has been an active volunteer for community services and has published 4 books.
