Claudia Lee Black was born (11 October, 1972) in Sydney, Australia to parents Jules and Judy Black, both from medical studies background and both doctors. She lived in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, USA and UK for long periods. Claudia has acted in Australian and New Zealand TV series and films.

She starred in TV series Good Guys Bad Guys and New Zealand Soap Opera City Life in a lead role. She earned stardom from her role in Farscape. She appeared in Stargate SG-1, Queen of the Damned, Pitch Black and returned for the seasons Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. She did Life in 2007 but had to leave due to her pregnancy. She acted in theatre as well in Merchant of Venice, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Spotlight on Women, and Loose Ends. She gave voice to video games characters in Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

She has two children. She married in 2004 and divorced in 2013.
